Many Opportunities

March 13, 2010

First ADVENTURES provides adults with opportunities to be active outdoors while participating and re-energizing in God’s amazing creation. The weather is warming (hopefully consistently) so it’s a good time to review what First ADVENTURES is up to. Feel free to offer suggestions for other activities.

Adirondack Adventure: Let us know now, so we can effectively plan, if you are at all interested in being a part of this special trip to the beautiful Adirondack Mountains in New York from August 11 through August 15. You’ll be able to select from a wide variety of options available in the area, including: light hiking, strenuous hiking, canoeing/kayaking, visiting the fascinating Adirondack Museum, bobsledding at Lake Placid’s Olympic park, sightseeing, shopping or just relaxing in a fabulous natural setting. The cost is expected to be very reasonable. Brochures are available in the church office.

Rock Climbing and Hiking: 1st Experience: Saturday, March 20 at Planet Rock Climbing Gym, Pontiac, MI (we plan to also have a training session a few days before this experience).
2nd Experience: Saturday, April 10 at Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio, southeast of Columbus. We will be climbing and rappelling on limestone cliffs. You should have had at least an introductory rock climbing session to participate in rock climbing on this event. Hocking Hills is also a great place to hike (and possibly begin to prepare for the Adirondack Adventure). You can sign up in the church office or email us.

Running Training: Sundays at 10:30 am, following the first service. It’s now time for even the fair weather runners to get started! Wear your running clothes.

Sunday Walk to Church: A regular Sunday Walk from the Starr Jaycee Park area to Church is proposed. You can easily join in if you live anywhere near the route. Please let us know if you have an interest in this.

Other Upcoming Events:

Road Biking Saturdays beginning April 17

Geocaching Late Spring (we are looking for help on this proposed family event)

Adirondack Adventure August 11 – August 15

Planning Meetings 4th Mondays of each month

I’d like to participate in Geochaching and help out with it as well.

Thanks, Erin. We anticipate planning the event in April and hold the event in mid to late May. It will be great to work with you!
