Three runners from the First ADVENTURES Running Training group and two runners who are members of First United Methodist Church of Royal Oak entered the 10k Oak Apple Run as the “First ADVENTURES Team” in the Open Team category. The race was held this morning (June 5) and our team finished in FIRST PLACE! Each of the winning runners received an award certificate and a $75 Savings Bond. Another First ADVENTURES Running Training group member also ran the race on his own but, as an active volunteer of the race, he did not officially enter to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest. Congratulations to everyone who completed the race and also to those who tried.

While the Oak Apple Run was going on, the First ADVENTURES Bikers rode round trip from downtown Royal Oak to Cranbrook. The weather was great. There seemed to be a lot of extra activity with bikers, joggers, walkers and cars this morning, some of which could be attributed to the Oak Apple Run and an incredible number of rummage sales being held all along the route. There should be some extra activity in Royal Oak next week, too, with the annual Clay and Glass Festival.
